With 19 staff members enrolled in One World’s succession planning course, Fundi Bots is ensuring that succession planning is embraced throughout their organization. They reported that the training series has positively affected the culture at their rapidly growing organization, encouraging openness and information sharing at all levels. For example, one staff member stated:

“[the trainings] helped me to embrace the idea that change is inevitable and when handled well is good and beneficial for growth. Additionally, it's been a reminder to me that like it or not, at every point as [my organization] grows, we will experience transitions at different levels. Therefore I ought to be ready but also ready my team and encourage/ position them for growth. Lastly, preparation is pivotal in managing and thriving through transition whether it's at the top level or whether it's me handing over my role and stepping into another. The question I have been asking myself is, are the systems and policies I'm building able to carry [my organization] forward even in the next 20 or so years when I'm long gone? Basically I'm now constantly thinking sustainability and long-term thriving of the organization.”

Having grown from 35 to 125 staff over the last 2 years, Fundi Bots is at an exciting inflection point. One World awarded Fundi Bots a Sustainability Grant to help them develop their leadership team and high performing staff to guide the organization through their current period of growth and future leadership transitions. They will also use grant funds to build their internal operational systems to meet the needs of a larger team. Fundi Bots aims to use its Sustainability Grant to:

“build trust and bonds, uplift employee morale, improve well-being and boost the organization's effectiveness, and efficiency, all of which contribute to the organization's long-term success.” Solomon King, Founder & Executive Director
