Less than 6% of U.S. philanthropic giving goes directly to international grassroots organizations serving their own communities. Already interwoven into the social fabric, grassroots organizations have the trust, knowledge, and social capital required to change the world. However, they often lack the visibility, infrastructure, and credentials necessary to secure U.S. funding.
Our Mission
To unite a philanthropic community in funding grassroots organizations that provide food, health, shelter, safety, education, and opportunity for children living in poverty around the world.
our work
We work with a select group of grassroots organizations, helping them secure the funding and resources they need to address poverty, poor health, economic insecurity, homelessness, and insufficient educational opportunities in their communities. We provide fiscal sponsorship and an online fundraising platform, which allows our member organizations to access tax exempt donations from U.S. donors. We also bring our members together to participate in a collaborative knowledge sharing network. As part of this network, we deliver educational programming related to organizational sustainability. We currently serve 25+ grassroots organizations in 12 countries, fiscally sponsoring over $2.5M per year in philanthropic funding.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?
If you are passionate about helping children or achieving more equitable philanthropic resource allocation, One World is the place for you.
WHAT DO BOARD MEMBERS DO?
One World’s Board holds organizational leaders accountable to agreed-upon goals and objectives and makes sure the organization stays true to its mission, fiscally responsible, and sustainable.
Board Members actively fundraise, invite their networks to organizational events, use their professional skills and resources to assist in achieving organizational objectives, and participate in member vetting and monitoring.
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?
Board members serve three-year terms. There are 4 to 6 virtual meetings per year, including a half day retreat.
IS THERE A FINANCIAL EXPECTATION?
Yes. Board Members must make a personal contribution ($1,500 min.) and participate in fundraising appeals and activities. Each Board Member should plan to raise or contribute at least $5,000 annually (inclusive of their personal contribution).
